Superstar students hit the silver screen

What better way to promote a media college than by having the students themselves help make a cinema advert? Our friends at Perfect Circle brought us a lovely project from their client Burnage Media College.

Burnage College were the first college in the UK to receive media college accreditation, and are currently readying themselves for a move into a brand new purpose built building due to a need for specialised facilities and an expanding number of students.

The faculty were looking for a brave promotional campaign that was as unique and exciting as the college itself, and had decided they would like to create an eye-catching advert to be shown in cinemas ahead of the new Harry Potter film.

In a collaborative effort with Perfect Circle and the college themselves, Skylab defined the direction and suggested that allowing the students to not just help out, but to actually star in the ad too would be killer concept.

After a great day in the green screen studios down at Media City we set about putting it all together. Fusing a blend of animated swirls, 3d animations and typography we created a virtual environment from where each of the students illustrates a different aspect of life at the college.

The whole ad was produced 24p at 2k resolution, a tall order in any facility, managed admirably by the skilled team at Skylab.
