Google Analytics Now Includes New Mobile, Social, Content, Audience and E-Commerce Filters

Skylab is hiring!

Yesterday, Google updated their ever-popular Google Analytics service to include a range of new fields. Google is clearly trying to move towards a user-centric analytical platform as they alluded to in previous blog posts. These fields make it significantly easier to profile users and audiences improving marketers abilities to target the right segment with the right content.

The following fields were taken from Google’s own blog post:

Mobile

  • Is a mobile device
  • Is a tablet
  • Mobile brand name
  • Mobile model name
  • Mobile marketing name
  • Mobile pointing method
  • Mobile has QWERTY keyboard?
  • Mobile is NFC supported?
  • Mobile has cellular radio?
  • Mobile has wifi?

Social

  • Social network
  • Social action
  • Social action target

Content & Traffic

  • Hit type: (page, social, transaction, etc.)
  • Internal search term
  • Internal search type

Audience / Users

  • Browser size
  • IP version

E-commerce

  • Local currency code

The real trick now is to make these fields and newly available data work for you regardless of your industry or sector.
