Clipper Round The World
The original event of Clipper Ventures Plc, the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race was the brainchild of Clipper Chairman and legendary solo sailor Sir Robin Knox-Johnston. Sir Robin wanted to give ordinary people the chance to do something truly extraordinary by becoming ocean racers, previously the preserve of the privileged or professional sailors. The Clipper Race is the only round the world yacht race for non-professional sailors and takes place every two years. The crews compete for the prestigious Clipper Trophy onboard a matched fleet of ocean going racing yachts, each sponsored by cities and regions around the world. Velux 5 Oceans
The VELUX 5 OCEANS is the original single-handed round the world yacht race. Contested every four years since 1982, previously under the titles of ‘BOC Challenge’ and ‘Around Alone’, the race is the longest and toughest event for any individual in any sport. Single-handed around the world's oceans in thoroughbred racing yachts represents The Ultimate Solo Challenge. The ultimate in human endeavour, only 90 people have so far completed this race. Zapcat
ZAPCAT RACING is an exciting adrenaline-fuelled power sport, which made its debut in the United Kingdom in 2001. In 2003 the Zapcat National Championship became, and remains to this day, the largest one-design powerboat series in the world. Zapcats are high performance, catamaran style, inflatable boats, powered by a 50hp outboard tiller engine, which gives them a power-to-weight ratio of 340 bhp. The Zapcat National Championship takes place every year at venues around the UK and provides plenty of thrills and spills with the boats racing to speeds of up to 45 knots around a tight course in front of large crowds of spectators.
