The International Floorball Federation (IFF) is the head organisation of world floorball, founded by Sweden, Finland and Switzerland in 1986.
IFF is growing quickly with 68 Member Associations and is today a full member of the International Olympic Committee. As part of IFF’s strategic vision, Skylab was approached to help modernise its digital presence and provide a platform for growth into the future.
This culminated with the launch of a new web platform on Floorball.sport, making IFF one of the first adopters of the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) .sport initiative.
Firstly, we migrated IFF onto a modern Content Management Platform, providing them with the tools to evolve the website as the needs of the organisation change over time.
We then leveraged our expertise with Amazon Web Services, to design a scalable infrastructure solution that would accommodate peak event traffic.
Finally, we created a new visual language that would enhance the event statistics data and engage fans prior to, during and post events.
We created a multisite solution which allowed IFF to quickly and efficiently provide fully functioning event sites to regional event organisers and host cities of World Championship events.
This means there will be continuity across all future major event websites, creating a unified look and feel and creating new commercial opportunities.
The next phase includes the production and integration of new APIs to showcase schedules, play-by-play data, results and profiles for teams and players.
We also ensured the sites are fully multilingual, allowing IFF to target their international audiences with regional and translated content. This also provides the flexibility to have additional language websites in the future, as the sport grows.
“Skylab was very active and had studied our old webpage and approached us with a number of creative solutions and ideas for a new and modern IFF website. Based on this it was easy to choose Skylab. The IFF is also very enthusiastic that we at the same time, with the new webpage launch, can change the domain to the GAISF .sport domain, which much better defines and places us in the sports family”.
