OVERVIEW
Following the success of our digital strategy for England Golf, leading UK sports publisher Sports Publications tasked us with designing and building new websites for their main publications National Club Golfer, Golf International and Lady Golfer.
We recently migrated Sports Publications from a bespoke and inflexible Content Management System (CMS) to WordPress with a view to modernising their publishing workflows and creating a more engaging web presence to drive revenue through sponsorship and advertising.
The new CMS manages news, editorial articles, a comprehensive searchable golf course directory as well as tutorials, product reviews, videos and advertising.
the brief
ADVERTISING INTEGRATION
Integrating Google’s DoubleClick for Publishers means Sports Publications can easily optimise revenue generation from third-party advertising.
VIDEO TIPS AND TUITION
‘The Golf Shack Academy’ provides golfing tuition videos. The video platform includes pre-roll video ads for mobile, generating new revenue streams when golfers want to watch tuition videos at home, at the range or on the course.
CAMPAIGN MICROSITES
Sports Publications can easily create, theme and launch any number of campaign microsites for golfing events such as The Ryder Cup, The Masters and The Open at the click of a button.
MULTISITE PUBLISHING
One article, multiple websites. We have invented a unique WordPress plugin that helps the editorial team publish one feature or article across any number of websites across the new multisite network, speeding up their workflow and avoiding duplication.
GOLF COURSE DIRECTORY
A new online directory containing over 2,500 entries allows users to get the low-down on courses around the UK. The golf course information includes course size in yards, number of holes, address and contact details, as well as course galleries and National Club Golfer’s official rating.
“We’re all delighted by the results to date but just as importantly, we appreciate the way you are communicating with us. It really feels like you ‘get’ what we are trying to do and you have been incredibly patient in dealing with our various requests.”
